The Well Educated Mind/ Part One/ Chapter 1/ Training your Mind.
Chapter one eases one into the realm of classical reading, it gives a very solid description of what to expect from the book and just how important it is to learn this skills, and all the benefits one will attain by it. This skills I speak off are none other than those that must be used at when intending to read classical literature, whether it be a novel, autobiography, play, historical book, or poem, this book aims to ensure your success on all of them, as long as you follow what is being said. The struggle therefore is presented at once; since you are actually intending to learn how to read by reading a book that tells you how to read, (this is even more evident on "How to Read a book" by Adler). However, the book facilitates your learning as it even asks you to perform certain exercises that aim to aid you upon your reading journey. Chapter one introduces the concept of classical reading, along with its relevance and its key importance to true education.
